OpenWay is a mobile navigation and traffic awareness application built for drivers in Kigali, Rwanda. We help you navigate smarter with live traffic updates, weather alerts, parking availability, and road closure notifications.

2Information We Collect
- Account information: your first name, last name, and email address when you register.
- Vehicle information: make, model, and license plate (optional), provided by you.
- Insurance information: company name, start date, and end date of your policy — used only to send you expiry reminders.
- Family contacts: names and phone numbers you voluntarily add.
- Location data: your GPS coordinates while the app is in use, to show relevant traffic, weather, and parking near you. We do not store your location history.
- Push notification token: a device token used solely to deliver alerts you have opted into.
- Profile photo: uploaded at your choice and stored securely via Cloudinary.
3How We Use Your Information
- Deliver real-time traffic, weather, parking, and road closure information.
- Send push notifications — only for the categories you have enabled in settings.
- Remind you before your insurance policy expires (30, 7, and 1 day in advance).
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
4Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the third-party services required to operate the app:
- Google Maps Platform — traffic and distance data. Your location is sent to Google to compute real-time traffic conditions.
- OpenWeatherMap — current weather data for Kigali.
- Expo Push Notifications — secure delivery of push notifications to your device.
- Cloudinary — secure storage for profile photos you upload.
- Railway — cloud infrastructure hosting our backend servers and database.
5Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. We will process your request within 30 days.
6Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. Contact us at info@housemajortech.com to make any request.
7Children
OpenWay is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
8Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and authenticated API access to protect your data. No internet transmission is 100% secure, but we follow industry best practices to minimize risk.
9Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
